In addition to holidays we often go for short breaks.
Lavenham
For our first wedding anniversary in 2006 we went to the Great House, a restaurant with rooms. Lavenham is a pretty town with an interesting history.
Ickworth
We stayed at the National Trust property at Ickworth for our second wedding anniversary.
Howick
We walked to Howick when we stayed at Embleton for our honeymoon and in 2008/9 we returned for a few days between Christmas and the new Year.
Slaggyford
Every year we try to arrange a short break between Christmas and the New Year and for 2009/10 we went to a small hamlet called Slaggyford in Northumberland, near Alston. The weather was not good, with a lot of snow both on the ground and from the sky. We made the most of it, however.
Claverdon
For Helen’s birthday in 2011 we went for a long weekend to the Ardencote Manor Hotel near Warwick. A very enjoyable three days and the hotel is highly recommended.
