Interests

This section is really the heart of the Den, as it is ‘my space’ where I share my interests.

Some interests have been with me for most of my adult life, such as photography and fishing.

Car mechanics preoccupied me in my youth and cars still interest me, but from an admiration perspective rather than a hands-on one.

Computing really entered my life when I bought a BBC Microcomputer in 1983 and has been an active interest ever since.

Women: well as a normal male with normal desires you can make up your own mind on this particular interest.

In 1981 I developed a keen interest in running that led to a number of half marathons and two attempts at the London Marathon. However, a serious back problem in 1983 gradually wore me down and the start of the new Millennium basically saw the end of my running. I still miss it and look enviously at runners who pass me in the street, but if I had continued I think I would have had serious back problems.

In addition I enjoy films, music, reading, gardening and all things pertaining to the natural world. I’m fairly practical and take on as many home maintenance and home development tasks as I can. ‘Getting a man in’ is seen as the last resort in my book.
