Rebuilt site launched

After some months of on-and-off endeavour, Bob’s Den has been converted to this latest format using the RapidWeaver software. There is some backlogged content still to add but if I had waited until everything was up to date I would never have published, while the existing Bob’s Den was becoming more and more out of date.

While much of the content is similar, I have taken the opportunity to tidy up all of the sections, which have also been restructured into, I hope, a more logical format. Some new content has been added, however, in particular in the photography section.

Photographs are now within their respective sections while the ‘photography’ section resides under ‘Interests’ and is devoted to my photographic background and equipment rather than the photographs I take. I may in time add a sub-section within photography for what I regard to be photographs of merit as distinct from those that just record events.

Fishing has restructured in a blog format and moved to my new web portal www.kilburnlad.net.

The layout of the site is such that there are now far fewer separate pages, thus reducing the navigation overhead. Instead I have adopted what appears to be the currently accepted practice of using scrolling pages with navigation by way of a link list at the head of the page, with ‘back to top’ links strategically placed down the page after each linked section. Meanwhile the use of a fixed page width should ensure that pages will display properly on most screen sizes and within all browsers.

I’ve used a Flash slideshow within the Holidays section for our trip to Africa in 2007 as there were too many photos to display on a scrolling page. This may cause issues for some people viewing the site.

As with any major rework I’m sure I’ve missed a few errors so please let me know if you find any.
