Fenland

Chatteris is a small market town and one doesn’t have to walk far before you’re in the fields.

Because it is entirely agricultural it doesn’t have the same appeal as, say, Yorkshire, but in its own way Fenland offers a different type of beauty.

One of the things that really hits you when you’re in the Fens are the impressive sky scenes that dominate the landscape. I've seen skies that scream to be photographed but I'm usually driving or haven't had a camera. I promise myself that I will one day go out armed and ready to record some of these truly spectacular scenes.

Although the countryside is arable it also has a special sort of charm, bisected as it is by the channels that were dug all those years ago to drain what was a wetland. Chatteris, like Ely, was an island, and communication was by water.
